Sustaining the Front Lines: Supporting First Responders at the Greer Fire in Arizona

When wildfires threaten communities and ecosystems, rapid and reliable response is critical. On May 13, 2025 the Greer Fire broke out near Greer, Arizona, eventually burning over 20,000 acres of forestland. GardaWorld Federal Services (GWFS) was proud to support the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) in their wildfire suppression efforts as part of our ongoing support through the USFS National Catering Contract.

Dispatched by the National Incident Command Center on May 14, 2025 our Response Logistics team was operational on the ground in less than 24 hours, serving the first hot meal to firefighters by dinner on May 15. Over the course of the following 9 days, we delivered an average of 1,685 meals per day, for a total of 15,165 meals served to the wildland firefighters battling the Greer Fire.

The fire was fully contained on May 27, 2025 after consuming a total of 20,308 acres. Throughout the deployment, our field teams remained committed to excellence under pressure. Feedback from the USFS Food Unit Leader highlighted the professionalism and performance of our personnel: “1st meal and all meals served on time and met all expectations. Rosa and Austin are a pleasure to work with.”

We are proud to stand behind the first responders who put themselves on the line to protect life, land, and community. Our mission is to ensure they’re equipped, supported, and ready to respond—starting with the basics that matter most.
